Automaker Nissan will invest $9.5 billion to expand its Chinese joint venture with Dongfeng, increasing its production to 2.6 million vehicles a year by 2022 from 1.5 million in 2017. That represents another increase in its localization strategy. Chinese imports of Nissan vehicles and parts reached $936 million in the 12 months to November 30, up 37% on a year earlier and showing increased demand. Yet, that was we below the $1.3 billion achieved in 2014.
