ExxonMobil and Total plan to double their liquefied natural gas (LNG) production in Papua New Guinea in a $13 billion, five year investment project. That will provide additional competition to suppliers from U.S. facilities that are also ramping up production for export in the next five years. So far the U.S.-facilities have the upper hand, shown by Cheniere’s recent deal with Petrochina.
