23rd Month Of Chinese Container Growth Faces Seasonal, Tariff Driven Slowdown

Container handling through China’s mainland ports climbed 9% on a year earlier in February, the 23rd straight month of growth. The fastest growing port at 38% was Shenzhen, though that was due to a particularly deep slow-down around the lunar new year holiday in 2016. Guangzhou was the only port to decline, with a 4% slide putting it alongside Hong Kong’s previously announced 6% drop.
