ZIM and CMA-CGM Face Harsh Savannah Outlook If China Trade Falls

Container handling through the Port of Savannah grew 3% in February, the 16th straight month of growth. A 7% rise in imports outpaced exports’ 1%, echoing a pattern seen on the west coast and in Virginia. The growth in imports has been driven mostly by China, with a 25% rise due to the timing of the lunar new year. A reversal of that effect comes at the same time as new duties on Chinese metals, technology and machinery exports.
