Solar panel manufacturer JinkoSolar will open a new factory in Florida, employing 200 people, as a response to the section 201 duties applied to solar energy equipment imports in January. That’s a similar strategy to that employed by Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics in home appliances – namely a final “hop” in supply chain shifts across countries when higher costs including duties make it more economic to produce in the U.S. than elsewhere.
