The section 232 duties on steel and aluminum implemented by the Trump administration came into effect on March 29. There are seven regional and 800 company exemption requests being processed, with the former due to be resolved by May 1. In the meantime while the duties are significant (25% for steel, 10% for aluminum) there was not significant evidence of a slowdown in shipments in March.
