Following heads-of-state meetings Canada, Mexico and the U.S. remain committed to reaching at least a political NAFTA agreement “within weeks” – even if a legal text and ratification takes longer. The automotive sector (74% of the U.S. NAFTA trade deficit) and specifically rules of origin remain the single most important topic for negotiation.
