China Dangles Drug Carrot While Keeping Duty Stick in Reserve for America

The Chinese government has cut the duties on imports of 28 basic pharmaceuticals. That will likely drive further growth after a 16% rise in the first quarter and 12% annually over the past three years. U.S. exporters have been somewhat left behind, accounting for just 13% of the total in 2017. Their fortunes will be a function of broader trade relations between the two countries.
