Global freight handling growth suffered a marked slowdown in March. Airfreight increased by just 2%, the slowest since May 2016, due to a growth of just 1% from Asian and European airlines. Capacity discipline slipped, with available volumes up 4%. Competition for new business from the airlines may help the freight forwarders that are seeing declining profitability.
