A wide-ranging exchange of tariffs has become more likely between the EU and U.S. Commissioner Malmström and Secretary Ross have reportedly failed to reach a deal to exempt the EU from U.S. metals duties ahead of a June 1 deadline. The EU’s offer of a voluntary quota at 100% of current shipments appears to have been rejected. Should the metals tariffs be applied, the European Commission has already identified 160 products for retaliatory duties.
