The China-led Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit reached an agreement (among others) to “advance trade facilitation”. That could be a prelude to regional trade deals with President Xi and Prime Minister Modi agreeing a bilateral trade target of $100 billion by 2020. That looks achievable given the 5% compound growth implied by the target compares to a 16% increase in 2017 alone to reach $88 billion of trade in the 12 months to April 30.
