Antidumping Petitions Slump as American Industry Awaits Trump’s Tariff Actions

The U.S. ITC received six new trade case petitions in June, with just one new antidumping case compared to four a year earlier. As a result there’s been a 31% slump in AD/CV case requests year-to-date vs. the same period in 2017. A surge seems unlikely in the near-term given the Trump administration’s ongoing section 232 review of the autos industry, preparations for duties on $200 billion of Chinese exports and uncertainties about NAFTA negotiations.
