Super-typhoon Maria looks set to disrupt supply chains in Fujian province, China, after causing flooding across Asia including Japan’s Ryuku islands. Storm damage is a fact-of-life for the logsitics industry at this time of year, with the impact on industrial activity a function of whether permanent damage is caused to infrastructure. The leading export lines from the province in the 12 months to February included apparel ($8 billion) and computer monitors / LCDs ($7.2 billion) while the leading export destinations are America (20%) and the Philippines (6%).
