The European Commission has called on the U.S. to remove a regulatory restriction to LNG exports to countries outside an American free trade agreement. That would help deliver an easy win to the process of negotiations, due to start August 20, that followed the recent trade detente agreed by President Trump and President Juncker. It won’t overcome the hurdle of the EU having liberalized, and therefore not directable, energy markets.
