A Mitsui-OSK car carrier, Sincerity Ace, has suffered a fire at sea between Japan and Hawaii with five crew missing or feared dead. The tragedy underscores the risks inherent in global supply chains. While the current manifest is unknown the largest users of the vessel on Japan-U.S. routes in 2018 were Mazda with 57.4% of mass carried and Honda Motors at 18.0%. Nissan, Isuzu and Subaru have also used the vessel’s services.
