The Indian government is considering extending tariffs on imports of solar panels following on from 25% safeguarding tariffs applied last July. Vikram Solar’s CEO, Gyanesh Chaudhary has stated that the tariffs have been passed through by project developers to their customers limiting the benefit for Indian manufacturers. The tariffs have nonetheless cut Indian imports by 21.1% year over year in the three months to Oct. 31. That’s potentially hurting Chinese exporters, led by Risen Energy and Longi, which accounted for 89.1% of deliveries in the past 12 months.
