Dumping Complaints Increase, Government Won’t Spare The Rod

Petitions to the U.S. government to investigate anti-dumping cases picked up in February with three new cases filed – the most since last September. The increase in complaints may reflect increased trade policy uncertainty with regards to tariff exemption requests for both Chinese exports and steel imports. The latest case to be taken up, focusing on alleged dumping of steel threaded rod from four countries including China and brought by Vulcan Steel, covers products worth $296 million in 2018.
