Houston Heads Higher on Mexican Shipments, MSC Does Best

Container handling through Port Houston surged 22.5% higher year over year in March. That was partly down to the repositioning of empty containers though exports jumped 22.4% and imports climbed 16.5%. Imports from China improved despite the imposition of tariffs. Yet, the biggest increase was a 32.4% jump in imports from Mexico, potentially as a result of shippers looking for alternative routes to road due to cross-border customs constraints.
