LG Electronics Hangs Up on South Korea, Calls on Vietnamese Factory

LG Electronics will shift its smartphone manufacturing to Vietnam from South Korea, cutting costs and simplifying its supply chain. South Korean phone exports have already been in long-term decline and dropped 7.5% year over year in 1Q 2019. LG Electronics has followed Samsung Electronics in relocating production to Vietnam, while Foxconn has shifted production of Apple’s iPhone to India for sales into that market.
