The Indian government has launched an antidumping review into imports of tin-coated steel from the EU, the U.S., Japan and South Korea. That comes as an increasing number of countries react to the knock-on effects from U.S. section 232 steel duties. Indian imports of the products covered by the new review climbed 17.1% year over year in the 12 months to Mar. 31, led by a 39.4% surge in imports from the EU. Major exporters from the four regions, including Marubeni Itochu, may have to accept lower market share while importers such as Suzuki Maruti face higher costs.
