Flexport Adds to Trade War as Threat for Freight Forwarders

The freight forwarders operating U.S.-inbound, seaborne services had a tough start to 4Q with shipments having fallen by 8.8% year over year in aggregate. That’s been due in large part to a trade war-driven 18.9% slide in shipments from China. There was a similar pattern of winners and losers in October as there had been in 3Q. DB Schenker was one of the best performing with a 4.9% expansion in October after a 5.5% increase in 3Q. The faster rates of decline were seen among forwarders with a larger exposure to Asia including CH Robinson and Expeditors whose shipments fell of 17....
