The Chinese government has removed restrictions on U.S. chicken product exports that were imposed in 2015 in response to an avian flu outbreak. That’s an act of goodwill that may help smooth the ongoing “phase 1” trade negotiations which are far from guaranteed to succeed. Chinese imports of chicken products – principally claws and offal – were worth $248 million in 2014.
