Concerns have been raised by President Trump’s chief trade advisor, Peter Navarro, regarding the reliability of Chinese healthcare product supplies to the U.S. in light of the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus. China only supplied 1.2% of America’s $132.2 billion of pharmaceuticals and healthcare imports in 2019. Growth in those shipments of 2.1% year over year lagged the 10.9% expansion in total imports.
