Dupont faces higher costs as U.S. cools on Chinese refrigerant imports

The U.S. government has voted to continue an anti-dumping investigation into difluoromethane imports from China. Difluoromethane is a modern refrigerant that can replace traditional ozone damaging CFCs. China accounted for 89.5% of U.S. imports in 2019, following a 35.5% slide in the average import value per kilogram in the three months to Jan. 31. Other imports come primarily from Japanese and French producers whose import value per kilogram rose over the same period. Dupont may be exposed to higher costs if tariffs are applied.
