Bigger difficulties ahead as COVID-19, consumers drag on Chinese exports in March

China’s international trade activity fell by 4.8% year over year in March in dollar terms, including a 6.5% slide in exports. The latter was a slower rate of decline than that seen in January and February when there was a 17.2% drop, indicating a return to business for China as the coronavirus outbreak lessened. Yet, China’s “foreign trade is encountering bigger difficulties” due to the global spread of coronavirus according to the government.
