The growing popularity of Mexico’s Cinco de Mayo festival has boosted exports for food and beverages, particularly to the U.S. The coronavirus pandemic has closed bars and restaurants, complicating matters for beverage exporters with a need to switch to retail channels and away from food service. Exports of tequila have outperformed those of beer recently, with exports of tequila having surged 42.7% higher year over year in March while beer has fallen by 10.7%.
