U.S. government plans to allow companies to defer import duties as a way to mitigate COVID-19 financial pressures has been something of a damp squib, with few companies able to take advantage of the narrow window. There was nonetheless a 21.4% slump in the U.S. Treasury income from customs duties in April with a 21.4% year over year drop to $4.11 billion.
