The semiconductor industry has proven robust during the COVID-19 pandemic due to increased demand for computers and consumer electronics. Yet, the market price for memory chips has fallen by 19.4% since April’s peak in part due to concerns about waning demand. Exports from South Korea, the leader in memory chips, dropped by 27.8% year over year in May, though semiconductor shipments from China and Taiwan have remained strong.
