BMW, Volvo imports improve as U.S. car shipments remain weak

The closure of U.S. car dealerships during COVID-19 is leading an increased proportion of customers to pursue online sales. That hasn’t prevented a drop in the number of vehicles being purchased though with total sales in July down by 12.1% year over year including a 12.8% slide in sales of foreign built vehicles. There’s still little sign of an expectation of recovery from the automakers in terms of imports.
