Containerized freight import activity through U.S. seaports reached a record 2.71 million TEUs in August after a 5.9% year over year increase that was driven by a surge in shipments from China. The latter resulted in a 12.7% jump in shipments to the ports of LA and Long Beach. Other west coast ports did less well with imports to Seattle and Tacoma down by 2.7% due to weaker shipments from Canada.
