The U.S. automotive industry is recovering to pre-pandemic levels with sales up by 0.9% year over year in October, led by sales of light trucks and despite a 16.6% slide in sales of foreign-built cars. There are some signs of increased optimism among overseas automakers with U.S. seaborne imports of cars and light trucks having increased by 10.0% year over year in October after a 25.8% slide in Q3’20.
