The European Commission has placed tariffs on $4 billion of U.S. imports across the aerospace, food, luxury goods and capital equipment industries in retaliation for U.S. subsidies provided to Boeing. The timing is surprising given the potential for improved relations with President-elect Biden, though EU Trade Commissioner Valdi Dombrobskis has stated there is an “opportunity to reboot” relations.
