The automotive industry is facing widespread shortages of semiconductors in key vehicle control systems with VW, Honda and Nissan all indicating they are cutting production as a result. Honda will cut Japanese production of the Fit model by 4,000 vehicles in January which compares to 65,690 vehicles per month produced on average in the three months to Nov. 30. The downstream impact for overseas dealers may be minimal given Honda exported just 10.4% of its Japanese output in the past three months.
